Gluten Free Italian Baked Spaghetti Dish
Do you enjoy spaghetti and lasagna but would like a healthier version? This Gluten Free Italian Baked Spaghetti dish is loaded with vegetables and made with organic pasta or marinara sauce and gluten free pasta. Mmmm good!
Gluten Free Italian Baked Spaghetti Dish
Ingredients
2 jars organic marinara or pasta sauce
1 pkg. gluten free pasta (organic brown rice and quinoa is delicious)
1- 16 oz. or 24 oz. package of lean ground turkey (or beef)
1 small onion (chopped)
1 zucchini (chopped)
1/2 red pepper (chopped)
1- 8 oz. pkg. portabella mushrooms
1 small can sliced black olives
1- 16 oz. pkg. grated mozzarella cheese
Italian Seasoning to preferred flavor
Note: Chopped cabbage (green or red) is optional. It is actually a very tasty and healthy addition to this dish. It is not overpowering but rather blends in with the flavors.
1. Brown meat and onions together. Add italian seasoning when almost fully cooked.
2. Cook noodles as directed on package.
3. Prepare vegetables as stated above.
4. Layer noodles, pasta sauce, meat and onion, zucchini, red pepper, mushrooms, black olives, and cheese in two layers ending with cheese.
5. Use 6 toothpicks and place straight into the prepared meal. Cover with aluminum foil. (Toothpicks will prevent the aluminum foil from contacting the cheese which would then melt holes into the aluminum foil.)
6. Cook covered at 375 degrees for 45 minutes; remove aluminum foil and cook another 15 minutes to brown.
Oven temperatures vary; adjust cooking time according to your oven.
